In Valinhos, the small village of Aljustrel Fatima, birthplace of the three little shepherds, home of the brothers Francisco and Jacinta can be visited, as well as the house of Lucia, converted into a museum that depicts the local way of life from the beginning of the century. After leaving Lisbon early in the morning in a ride through the portuguese countryside, we will arrive in Fatima in time to attend mass services, free time for religious souvenir shopping, and bring your purchases inside the sanctuary so they can get blessed by the “man of the cloth”.
An visit to the two Basilicas therein; Lady Mary of the White Rosary and Holy Trinity as well as the Chapel of the Apparitions, the first Chapel to be built shortly after the apparitions, located in the center of the Sanctuary is a place not to be missed, not for grandeur, but for the meaning, it is mandatory to visit it on our Tour Fatima Batalha Nazaré and Obidos.
At one end the Basilica of Our Lady of the White Rosary, built in 1928 with a neo-baroque architecture, here you will find the tombs of the three little shepherd children (Francis and Jacinta), and now also the tomb of Sister Lucia, in the other end the imposing Basilica of the Holy Trinity, built in 2007 with more than 8,000 seats and 40,000 m² of area designed by the Greek architect Alexandros Tombazis.

Now it’s time to visit the city, starting with the University, dated from 1290 when king Dinis order it’s construction.
Here you will be able to visit the Joanina Library cited by the renowned British newspaper “The Telegraph” as “…the most spectacular library in the world…”, a jewel of the baroque in Portugal, carrying over 70.000 books in its shelves.
From the University’s upper ground, the view over Coimbra is simply spectacular, with the rio Mondego (the largest portuguese born river), dividing the city in two main areas. After enjoying the library, we will continue visiting the University of Coimbra and visit other interesting places like; Saint Michel Chapel, the “Capelos”room, the Tower, among others.
IMPORTANT – If the visit to the University is essential for you, let us know when during the booking to book tickets advance (not included in the price), as the visit to the Joanina Library it is numbered and otherwise it will be practically impossible to make the visit at the moment, after the reservation made the customer will be charged the same amount at the end of the tour (11.5 € / person), even if the visit is not made due to the client’s withdrawal or delay of the same.
Now its time to visit the city center starting with the romanesque style 12th century cathedral, followed by same walking in the old town, where you can visit the famous Arc of the Almedina and visit the Church of Santa Cruz where the first king of Portugal, Afonso Henriques (Afonso I) is buried.
Developed with the separation of the “Alta”, where lived the nobility, the clergy and, later, the students and the “Baixa”, predominated by the commerce, crafts and neighborhoods. A region to relax and to be lost in this enchanting city, its narrow streets, beautiful alleys and squares, where you will find numerous cafes, bakeries and restaurants.
