Lisbon, considered by many one of the most beautiful European cities, where the perfume of its “designer” shops mix with the human warmth making the city its point of life. Visit this city is to travel in time, where in any corner theres something to discover, not forgetting its delicacies, like the Belem custard tart.
Saint George Castle in Lisbon is one of its ancient buildings, built in the sec.V, according to legend, Lisbon was founded by Ulysses, king of Ithaca, and hero of the epic poem of Homer, the Odyssey, who called it Olissipo, which means sympathetic port.
When the Romans arrive they decided to call it Olissipona, building temples, aqueducts, baths and a necropolis under what is today the Figueira square. In the 8th century, Lisbon was conquered by the Muslims of North Africa and the Middle East, the Moors who built mosques in the same place where once there were Roman temples and even a wall around the city, which still today can be found vestiges.
In our Lisbon Tour, we start the day with the visit to the area where in 1998, Lisbon received the Expo 98 the Nations Park, world fair inspired by the glory of the Portuguese maritime expansion, with its bold architecture but functional, the great work of the Spanish architect Mr. Calatrava, the same one that designed the Tomorrow Museum in Brazil.
A modern Lisbon, where public transport works very simplified, what has greatly improved access to the center of Lisbon, as well as the office space of many of the national and international companies.
With the end of the Expo the cultural and business spaces that were there constructed, such as; the Atlantic Pavilion (now the Meo Arena), the Oceanarium, the Vasco da Gama Tower, the Camoes theater and the Lisbon Pavilions and the Lisbon International Fair (FIL), among others, have gained a new life and form completely integrated in this new part of Lisbon
A real success thus far eastern part of the city thus gained a new district with a population mainly of the upper middle class, and according to the data provided by the municipality, it is also the youngest and with more studies population in Portugal.
Let us now discover the oldest part of Lisbon, Alfama, through its alleys and tiny streets, this ancient Arab Medina, after the Christian reconquest in the 12th century the Arab civilization that were living here were transferred to another hill and then was born the “Bairro da Mouraria”
Discover Alfama is immersed in Portuguese authenticity, Fado the most typical and charismatic Portuguese music, was born in this neighborhood, this strange melancholy felling to which Portuguese called “saudade”.
Following, we will arrive at the Castle of St. George, another of the few physical remains of the Arab civilization in Portugal, not far we have the the Lisbon Cathedral built in the 12th century, in a Romanesque architecture, time to visit Saint Anthony’s Church the place where the this Portuguese holy matchmaker was born.
Now it´ s time to visit the other Lisbon hill and know these two neighborhoods so different and at the same time so similar.
Bairro Alto neighborhood, known for its crossroads of streets that over the weekend fill with thousands of young people, come to enjoy of what is known as the most bohemian Lisbon neighborhood, next to it we have the Chiado neighborhood where culture and art live hand in hand, or if it is not here that the great majority of theaters in Lisbon are concentrated, as in the oldest bookstores of the modern world.
Then our Lisbon Tour will take us to Lisbon Downtown ( Baixa Lisboa ), the quarter of Lisbon that was most devastated with the great earthquake of 1755 that devastated most of the city.
Time to understand the importance of the Pombaline architecture used to rebuilt the city in a completely different way, a wider area with many streets and squares, this already predicting a new earthquake, using anti-seismic architecture of the 18th century, Mr. Marques de Pombal, was the statesman responsible for the reconstruction of Lisbon, as well as all the economic and social changes after the earthquake.
Crossing the Liberty Avenue we will reach the Marques de Pombal square where we will stop next to Eduardo VII Park and try to understand the relationship and treaties between Portugal and England and the importance of this relationship in the future of Brazil and appreciate its fantastic view.
After lunch, our Lisbon Tour continues to Belem, an authentic open book about the period of Portuguese maritime expansion, the site where the old shipyards and ports of Lisbon here, brave Portuguese explorers in the 15th century discovering the sea routes to India, Africa and Brazil, celebrating this glorious past, financed by the vast wealth that flowed to Portugal from the colonies.
Here we are going to visit these three important Monuments; the Belem Tower, Jeronimos Monastery and the Monument to the Discoveries, the last stop will be in the famous Belem pastry factory, to taste this fabulous conventual sweet that attracts millions of people every year.
Depending on the time spend on our tour, we can visit Cristo Rei Monument, on the south bank of the Tagus River, crossing the 25 de Abril Bridge, inaugurated in 1966, one of the largest suspension bridges in the entire world. Cristo Rei is a place that attracted pilgrims from all over the world, undoubtedly one of the best views in Lisbon, having the highest point about 200 meters high.

Assim que informei... read more o motorista Carlos que tinha escolhido este Palácio ele passou a se queixar que lá era difícil de estacionar e sugeriu que deixasse a gente no centro e que eu e meu marido fóssemos de Tuk tuk até este palácio. Porém quando conversei com a agência pelo Whats app a agencia me havia infomado que este Palácio era uma opção. Pedimos que ele nos deixasse no palácio, então ele informou que deveríamos ser rápidos e que não poderíamos demorar mais do que 1 hora e meia para fazer os outros passeios. Fizemoss o passeio do Mont Serrat as pressas ( o que é uma pena pois o lugar era lindo e gostaría de ficar mais tempo lá). De lá seguimos para a estrada e quando vi já estávamos chegando em Cascais. Quando questionei sobre o ponto de parada do Cabo da Roca o motorista Carlos disse que já havia ficado para trás e que ele não levava os turistas lá a tarde porque não era possível ver nada devido a neblina, porém ele não falou isso no início do passeio e este local estava no itinerário. Quando chegamos ao Estoril informou que tínhamos 2 horas e meia neste local, que apenas tinha uma praia e não havia mais nada para ver e ele for almoçar. Paguei por um passeio particular em que tive que ver apressadamente os locais que mais gostei, em que não foi parado no Cabo da Roca que estava no itinerário, e que fiquei um tempo desnecessário em um local que não havia nada para ver. Fiquei desapontada e não indico este passeio comeste motorista.
