Tourism in Oporto

The tourism regions in Oporto and northern Portugal had an increase of 17.4% in overnight stays in Portugal, especially in August.

Oporto and North of the country was the only Portuguese region where tourist accommodation increased by over 100,000 in August, up 13.6%, reaching 17.4% when considering only overnight stays Of foreigners, according to INE data released today.

This increase comprised a further 33.2 thousand overnight stays of residents in Portugal (+ 9.4% to 386.3 thousand) and 69.6 thousand overnight stays of foreign residents (+ 17.4% to 470.4 thousand) . In both markets, Oporto and North was the region with the highest overnight increases in August.

Even stronger than the overnight increases were, according to INE data, the increases in revenues of the sector in Oporto and North, with total revenues increasing by 20.4% or 6.78 million euros in August to Million, with room revenues increasing by 23.9% or six million, to 145.08 million
