The Benfica Museum Cosme Damião, also known as the Sport Lisboa e Benfica Museum, represents one of the greatest football clubs in Portugal, renowned worldwide. This does not imply superiority over other teams, but rather highlights the increasing competitiveness of the Portuguese league, which is vital for sports enthusiasts.

Located outside Estádio da Luz in Lisbon, the museum is dedicated to the history of Sport Lisboa e Benfica. Named in honor of Cosme Damião, it was inaugurated on July 26, 2013, under the presidency of Luís Filipe Vieira, and opened to the public three days later, on July 29, just over a year after its initial construction.

Structure and Exhibits

The 4,000-square-meter building features three floors, with a large display case showcasing around 500 trophies. The museum is divided into 29 thematic areas, displaying approximately 1,000 trophies won across different sports, along with a collection of over 30,000 cups, documents, and audiovisual materials related to Benfica’s history.

Visitors can also explore interactive touchscreens with detailed information about players, teams, coaches, and more.
