Itinerary

Day 1:
Óbidos

We begin our journey in Óbidos, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, diving into the medieval charm of its whitewashed streets. Once part of the Templar defensive system, Óbidos is a historic gift from King Dinis to his wife, Queen Isabel, and a haven for Portuguese queens. Also, discover the unique flavor of Óbidos’ famous ginja. Ready for this irresistible experience?

Day 2:
Festivals

Continuing our journey, we visit the University Palace, highlighting the Joanina Library, acclaimed as one of the most beautiful in the world. Built between 1717 and 1728, it reflects the splendor of Portuguese Baroque. It is a true cultural “jewel,” showcasing King João V’s commitment to education and culture.

It is crucial to reserve tickets in advance, as the visit is numbered and highly sought after. When booking your Coimbra and Aveiro Tour, let us know your preference to ensure your visit to the University (ticket not included in the tour price).

Day 3:
Sintra Center

Now it’s time to explore the center of Sintra, with its picturesque streets and alleys. In the historic heart of the town, you will find various Portuguese craft shops and can taste the famous Travesseiros de Sintra at Piriquita Pastry Shop. Enjoy this charming spot with free time to stroll around.

Sintra is known for its rich concentration of historical monuments and tourist attractions. Here, you will discover more than 10 national monuments, including magnificent palaces, ancient ruins, and elegant palatial residences, all scattered across the region’s hills, accessible through challenging hiking trails.

Day 4:
Sintra Palaces

On our Óbidos Sintra Tour, your guide will be there to help you choose which palace to visit: Queluz Palace, Pena Palace, Monserrate Palace, Quinta da Regaleira with its initiatic well, or, if you prefer something more medieval, the Moorish Castle. The choice is yours, depending on your interests. To ensure we also visit Cascais and Estoril, we will need to be efficient with time (it won’t be possible to visit more than one palace). We’ll make the most of each location while being mindful of time, and if time allows, we’ll head to the following destinations.

Day 5:
Boca do Inferno

At Boca do Inferno, we will witness the grandeur of this site, sculpted by the erosion of waves that dissolve the limestone. On stormy days, the waves crash against the rocks, creating a stunning landscape with magnificent, though sometimes somber, sunsets due to tragic events.

Day 6:
Cascais

Upon arriving in Cascais on our Óbidos Sintra Tour, we are greeted by its stunning bay, filled with fishing boats. Explore this charming village, a favorite destination of Portuguese royalty, with free time for discovery.

Day 7:
Estoril

Estoril, a hub of espionage during World War II and home to Ian Fleming, the author of James Bond. Explore its grand properties and the famous Casino Estoril, the largest casino in Europe.

Return trip along the coast.
