Guarda – Lamego – Douro Valley – Amarante – Porto

We begin the day in Lamego, where the Jewish community settled between the castle and the Church of Santa María de Almacave starting in the 14th century. By the following century, the town already featured two populated Jewish quarters.

Day 1: Lisbon, Historic Quarters, and the Sephardic Heritage

will explore areas such as Alfama, Baixa and Chiado, uncovering stories of the Jewish community that once played an important role in the city’s commercial and cultural life. We then continue to Belém, home to some of Lisbon’s most iconic monuments linked to Portugal’s Age of Discoveries.

Day 2: Lisbon – Tomar – Castelo Branco – Covilhã

We leave Lisbon and travel first to Tomar, a historic city closely linked to the Knights Templar and the impressive Convent of Christ. We then continue inland to Castelo Branco, known for its traditional gardens, regional character and historic center, before heading toward Covilhã, at the foot of the Serra da Estrela, where we end the day.

Day 3: Covilhã – Belmonte – Guarda

We leave Covilhã and continue through the interior of Portugal to Belmonte, a historic village closely connected to Portugal’s Sephardic Jewish heritage and the story of Pedro Álvares Cabral. We then travel on to Guarda, the highest city in Portugal, known for its medieval center, granite architecture and imposing cathedral.

Day 4: Guarda – Lamego – Douro Valley – Amarante – Porto

We leave Guarda and travel north toward Lamego, where we visit the impressive Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios. We then continue through the spectacular Douro Valley, surrounded by terraced vineyards and river landscapes, before stopping in Amarante, known for its historic center and the São Gonçalo bridge. The day ends in Porto.

Day 5: Porto – Secret Jewish Quarters & the Invicta City

Discover Porto through its historic streets, hidden corners and traces of Sephardic Jewish heritage. We will explore the old city, including areas once connected to the Jewish community, while also visiting some of Porto’s most emblematic landmarks, squares and viewpoints, uncovering the character and history behind Portugal’s famous “Invicta” city.

Day 6: Porto – Aveiro – Nazaré – Óbidos – Lisbon

We leave Porto and travel south toward Lisbon, with several memorable stops along the way. We begin in Aveiro, known for its canals, Art Nouveau architecture and colorful moliceiro boats, then continue to Nazaré, famous for its dramatic Atlantic coastline and fishing traditions. Our final stop is the beautifully preserved medieval village of Óbidos, before completing the journey in Lisbon.
