Guimarães, the first capital of Portugal, will be our first stop. We will explore the historic city, where the statue of King Afonso Henriques welcomes us.

Day 1: Historic Lisbon & the Charms of Belém

Today we explore Lisbon and Belém, from the historic districts of Baixa and Alfama to some of the city’s best viewpoints. We then continue to Belém, with highlights such as Belém Tower, Jerónimos Monastery and the Monument to the Discoveries.

Day 2: Romantic Sintra, Cascais & the Estoril Coast

Today we explore Sintra, Cascais and Estoril, combining historic palaces, charming streets and the Atlantic coastline. The tour includes a visit to Pena Palace, with admission tickets included, before continuing through Sintra and along the coast toward Cascais and Estoril.

Day 3: Journey to Alentejo & the Charms of Évora

We start the day at a cork factory, where we will learn about the extraction process of the cork oak tree, whose bark is harvested every nine years (Portugal is responsible for 55% of world production). Next, we head to Évora, a stunning medieval town that attracts thousands of visitors. The Chapel of Bones is a major highlight, with its walls lined with human bones.

Day 4: Central Route: Walled Óbidos, Faith of Fátima & Academic Coimbra

We begin the day in Óbidos, a UNESCO World Heritage site, exploring its narrow walled streets and tasting the famous ginja liqueur in a chocolate cup. We continue to Fátima, one of the most important Marian Sanctuaries in the world, where we will visit the Chapel of the Apparitions, the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosario, and the Basilica of the Holy Trinity, which houses the tombs of the shepherd children. Afterward, we arrive in Coimbra, the "City of Students," where we will visit the University Palace and the stunning Joanina Library from 1728, famous for its baroque architecture.

Day 5: The Canals of Aveiro, Costa Nova & Arrival in Porto

In the morning, we will visit the University of Coimbra, with admission tickets included. Afterward, we leave Coimbra toward Aveiro, known as the “Portuguese Venice” for its picturesque canals. We will explore the historic center, admire its Art Nouveau architecture, and enjoy some free time to try the traditional ovos-moles and, if you wish, take a relaxing moliceiro boat ride.

Day 6: The Charm of Porto, Lello Bookstore & the Wine Cellars of Gaia

A full day dedicated to discovering Porto’s historic center, with highlights such as Avenida dos Aliados, São Bento Station, Clérigos Tower, Porto Cathedral and the Church of São Francisco. The program also includes admission to the famous Lello Bookstore and a visit with tasting at a traditional Port wine cellar in Vila Nova de Gaia.

Day 7: Santiago de Compostela & Galician Charms

Today we leave Porto and travel north to Santiago de Compostela, one of Europe’s most important pilgrimage destinations. We will explore its historic center, walk through its atmospheric streets and visit the surroundings of the Cathedral of Santiago, the symbolic final point of the Camino de Santiago.

Day 8: Discovering Minho: Birthplace of Guimarães & Faith of Braga

We begin in Guimarães, widely known as the birthplace of Portugal and a UNESCO World Heritage city, with its medieval center, historic squares and Guimarães Castle closely linked to the origins of the country and its first king, Afonso Henriques. We then continue to Braga, one of Portugal’s oldest cities, known for its religious heritage, elegant historic center and landmarks such as the Braga Cathedral and Bom Jesus do Monte.

Day 9: Upper Douro Route: Douro Valley & the Pinhão Landscapes

We leave Porto and head into the spectacular Douro Valley, one of Portugal’s most celebrated wine regions. Surrounded by terraced vineyards and dramatic river landscapes, the day includes a visit and wine tasting at a selected winery, as well as a one-hour boat trip on the Douro River, both included, subject to weather and navigation conditions.

Day 10: Douro Valley, the Peaks of Serra da Estrela & Monsanto Stone Village

Today we leave the Douro Valley and head toward Monsanto. Before that, we will stop in the Serra da Estrela, the highest point in mainland Portugal and the country’s largest protected natural park, featuring deep valleys, crystal-clear rivers, and a strong pastoral tradition. It is home to the famous Serra da Estrela handmade cheese, boasting an unmistakable flavor and quality.

Day 11: Knights Templar Tomar & the Hilltop Village of Marvão

Today we travel from Monsanto to Tomar, where we explore the legacy of the Knights Templar and visit the impressive Convent of Christ, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, including the Charola and the famous Manueline Chapter Window. We then continue to Marvão, a striking medieval hilltop village with sweeping views over the Alentejo, where we will end the day and stay overnight.

Day 12: Estremoz "White City" & Arrival in Historic Évora

Estremoz, known as the “white city” of the Alentejo, owes its name to its bright houses and the numerous marble quarries that have made it one of the world’s leading producers. Protected by two rings of walls, we will explore the Old Town, the 13th-century medieval Castle, the former Royal Palace, and Dom José I Square, famous for its traditional market. We then continue to Évora, a city shaped by centuries of history, from its narrow streets of Arab origin to the golden age of the Discoveries.

Day 13: Évora Traditions, Cork Factory & Monsaraz Village

Today we explore Évora and Monsaraz, two of the Alentejo’s most distinctive destinations. In Évora, we visit the Roman Temple, Praça do Giraldo, Cathedral and Chapel of Bones before continuing to Monsaraz, a beautifully preserved medieval village overlooking Alqueva. Along the way, we discover local stories, traditions and curiosities.

Day 14: Arrábida Natural Park, Tile Factory & Return to Lisbon

We conclude this grand tour by crossing the Arrábida Natural Park, which reveals a stunning contrast between white limestone cliffs, lush green mountains, and the turquoise sea, washing over gorgeous beaches like Portinho da Arrábida and Galapinhos. To celebrate the country's rich artistic tile heritage, we will visit a traditional artisanal tile factory to learn about the molding and painting process, and even paint your own tile. We continue to Setúbal, a city deeply connected to the sea and fishing traditions, where we will stroll through the historic center and Bocage Square, filled with outdoor cafés.
