Itinerary

Day 1:
Departure from Porto

Embark on a unique journey starting early at 8:30 AM from the charming city of Porto. Get ready for a personalized experience tailored to your wishes and interests. Choose between exploring the picturesque Viana do Castelo or the historic Valença do Minho.

Day 2:
Viana or Valença - We Help You Choose

Viana do Castelo – A flat city with the exception of the Church of Santa Luzia. Viana, with its geometrically planned streets between the Atlantic and the Lima River, has a historic center with narrow streets, squares, and well-preserved plazas, offering a journey through a long history from the Middle Ages to the Republic, through the Age of Exploration, and highlighting its importance in cod fishing.

Valença – A border town, separated from Spain only by the Minho River, where Celts, Romans, Suebi, and Arabs passed through, with a history dating back to the Iron Age. A visit to its 17th-century fortress is a must, as well as purchasing a traditional “lenço dos namorados” (sweetheart’s handkerchief).

Day 3:
Santiago de Compostela

Imagine a courageous apostle defying a ruthless king and facing martyrdom in Jerusalem. This was James the Greater, whose fate led his sacred remains on a mysterious stone boat to distant Galicia, Spain.

But his story doesn’t end there. At the height of Roman persecutions, his tomb was abandoned, plunged into obscurity.

Today, this epic tale resonates as a call to adventure and faith. The journey of James the Greater, full of bravery and mystery, continues to attract travelers and spiritual seekers, leaving a legacy that transcends centuries. Do you dare to discover more about this sacred enigma?

Day 4:
Santiago Cathedral

Santiago de Compostela is a city that offers serenity and rich history, where formally dressed students stroll through medieval streets, accompanied by music and art. Pilgrims from all over the world share their experiences, creating a unique cultural mosaic.

The majestic Santiago Cathedral, with its eclectic architecture, features rich and ostentatious details in its baroque façade, contrasting with the sobriety of its interior, marked by imposing arches, solid walls, and few windows.

The famous Botafumeiro is not to be missed—a masterpiece created to alleviate the smell of pilgrims who, at times, went years without bathing. This piece, the largest of its kind in the world, stands 1.60 meters tall and weighs 80 kilograms, suspended by a 30-meter rope, requiring eight men to swing it.

Day 5:
Parador of the Catholic Monarchs

The Parador of Santiago, affectionately known as the Hostal of the Catholic Monarchs, is possibly the oldest hotel in the world. Located in the iconic Obradoiro Square, next to the imposing Cathedral, this parador is a true fusion of history, art, and tradition.

Situated in a prime location, it has become one of the great symbols of Santiago, attracting pilgrims from all over the world seeking rest and repose. Its presence in the square only enriches the magical atmosphere of this historic city.

Day 6:
Museums of Santiago

In Santiago, a variety of museums await you. Explore the city and Cathedral’s history at the Cathedral Museum, immerse yourself in Galician culture at the Museum of the Galician People, and discover the tradition of pilgrimage to Santiago at the Museum of Pilgrimages.

For contemporary art, visit the Galician Center of Contemporary Art (CGAC) designed by Álvaro Siza. And for a unique experience, learn about the history of the Holy Land at the Holy Land Museum in the convent of San Francisco. In each museum, a new adventure awaits you.
