Itinerary

Day 1:
Palaces in Sintra

Your guide will be available to assist you in choosing which palace to visit among the charming options: Queluz Palace, Pena Palace, Monserrate Palace, Quinta da Regaleira (with its intriguing initiation well), and, if you prefer something more medieval, the imposing Moorish Castle. The decision is yours, based on your preferences and curiosities. We recommend visiting a maximum of one palace (if you choose more than one, you could spend the entire day in Sintra), as the tour lasts approximately 8 hours, and visiting two palaces could affect the exploration of other mentioned sites.

For those wishing to visit Pena Palace, we suggest purchasing tickets in advance, especially for the 9:30 a.m. time slot (if possible), to ensure a smoother and more pleasant experience. Your journey through Sintra will be carefully planned to make the most of each stunning location.

Day 2:
Sintra’s Historic Center

Now it’s time to explore the charming center of Sintra, wandering through its delightful alleys and streets. In Sintra’s historic heart, discover numerous Portuguese craft shops, and don’t miss the chance to try the famous Travesseiros de Sintra at Pastelaria Piriquita. Enjoy free time in this wonderful location.

Sintra is a true treasure, filled with historical monuments and fascinating tourist attractions. With more than 10 national monuments, including opulent palaces, ancient ruins, and decorative manor houses, all scattered across the region’s hills. Explore these wonders along challenging pedestrian paths, diving into a unique experience.

Day 3:
Cabo da Roca

Next, our Sintra Cascais and Estoril Tour takes us through the stunning Sintra mountains towards Cascais, passing through Colares. A must-see stop awaits: Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of mainland Europe, where, in the words of Luís de Camões in Os Lusíadas (Canto VIII), “the land ends and the sea begins.”

The imposing lighthouse, erected in 1772 at 165 meters above sea level, is a testament to the power of the Atlantic Ocean. This iconic site in Portugal reveals itself as a place of great importance during the period of maritime exploration, offering us a unique and striking experience. This is one of the tour’s highlights, where nature and history meet in a majestic way.

Day 4:
Boca do Inferno (Optional)

Make an optional stop at Boca do Inferno, where the grandeur of the place is revealed. The erosion caused by intense rain, enriched with dissolved carbon dioxide, dissolves the limestone, creating cavities and caves. The collapse of the upper layers resulted in a spectacular open-air cavity.

On rough sea days, witness the waves crashing against the rocks inside the cave, an impressive fusion of natural beauty and the power of the raging sea. This place offers a divine landscape and is one of the best spots to watch the sunset, although occasionally overshadowed by tragic events on its dangerous, unprotected cliff. A unique experience that blends nature’s grandeur with the serenity of the ocean.

Day 5:
Cascais Bay

Upon arriving in the charming village of Cascais on our Sintra Cascais and Estoril Tour, we are greeted by its stunning bay, now a delightful retreat for those who wish to reside or enjoy brief holidays. The bay, filled with picturesque fishing boats, invites exploration of this small and renowned village, attracting thousands of visitors annually.

Located between Cascais Bay and the majestic Sintra mountains, Cascais was, throughout the 19th century, the preferred holiday destination for the Portuguese royal family, extending its charm to the entire nobility. In Largo de Camões, in the historic center, discover a variety of shops and restaurants, offering free time to explore and experience the unique atmosphere of this coastal village. Cascais, a place where royal history intertwines with natural beauty.

Day 6:
Estoril

Estoril, an intriguing stage for espionage during World War II, was home to Ian Fleming, the renowned author of the books that inspired the character of Agent 007. Explore the impressive estates and marvel at the Estoril Casino, considered the largest in Europe. In this town with a mysterious past, discover the allure that inspired spy stories and the glamour that continues to surround Estoril to this day.
