Coimbra

We’ll begin our visit to Coimbra by exploring the University Palace, where the Joanina Library holds a prominent place. Construction of the library began in 1717 atop the old prison of the Royal Palace to house the university’s collection of books.

Day 1: Porto Historic Center, Lello Bookstore & Port Wine Tasting in Gaia

Discover the heart of Porto, exploring its historic center, elegant streets and most iconic landmarks. We will visit Avenida dos Aliados, Clérigos Tower, Jardim da Cordoaria and Bairro da Vitória, as well as the famous Lello Bookstore, with admission tickets included. The experience also includes a visit and Port wine tasting in a traditional cellar in Vila Nova de Gaia.

Day 2: Braga & Guimarães – History, Heritage & Northern Portugal

Guimarães, known as the birthplace of Portugal, with its medieval historic center, traditional squares and imposing Guimarães Castle. We then continue to Braga, one of Portugal’s oldest cities, to explore its elegant historic center and visit the impressive Bom Jesus do Monte Sanctuary, famous for its monumental staircase and panoramic views.

Day 3: Douro Valley – Pinhão, Winery Visit & Wine Tasting

On the third day of our tour, we’ll leave our hotel in Porto, into the breathtaking Douro Valley, the world’s oldest demarcated wine region and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Travel along scenic roads overlooking terraced vineyards and the Douro River, with a stop in Pinhão and its iconic tiled railway station. The day includes a visit and wine tasting at a selected winery, included in the tour.

Day 4: Lamego, Viseu & Arrival in Coimbra

We begin in Lamego, visiting the impressive Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios and discovering the city’s historic character. We then continue to Viseu, known for its elegant old town, traditional streets and cultural heritage, before travelling south to Coimbra, where we end the day.

Day 5: Coimbra – University, Joanina Library & Historic Center

Today is dedicated to discovering Coimbra, one of Portugal’s most historic cities and home to its renowned university. We will visit the University of Coimbra, including the Paço das Escolas and the Joanina Library, with admission tickets included, before continuing through the historic center and some of the city’s most emblematic streets.

Day 6: Fátima, Óbidos & Return to Lisbon

Today we leave Coimbra and travel to Fátima, one of the world’s most important Marian pilgrimage destinations. We will visit the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, the Basilica of the Holy Trinity and the Chapel of the Apparitions. We then continue to the beautifully preserved medieval village of Óbidos, before returning to Lisbon, where the journey comes to an end.

Day 7: Lisbon

Spend the day discovering the many faces of Lisbon, from its historic neighborhoods and panoramic viewpoints to the elegant city center and riverside areas. We will explore Alfama, Lisbon’s oldest quarter, with its narrow streets and traditional atmosphere, continue through Baixa and Chiado, Belem and visit some of the city’s most emblematic viewpoints and monuments, combining history, local character and the spirit of the Portuguese capital.

Day 8: Sintra’s romantic palaces and the Atlantic coast of Cascais

Spend the day exploring Sintra and Cascais, combining royal heritage, romantic landscapes and the Atlantic coast. In Sintra, we will visit the spectacular Pena Palace, with admission tickets included, before continuing through the historic center and scenic surroundings. We then head toward Cascais, enjoying coastal viewpoints and the relaxed atmosphere of one of Portugal’s most elegant seaside towns.
